9 Things to Know Before Buying Zeekr 7X in Hong Kong

1. 01

   Kam Lung (錦龍), the sole HK dealer, is the biggest obstacle for buyers. Showroom visits report no air conditioning, photocopied spec sheets, and no follow-up after leaving contact details. Multiple owners switched to other brands specifically because of the dealer, not the car.

   The base version is still competitive against other EVs at the same price, but the 10-speaker audio system lacks bass. Multiple test drivers flagged this immediately after demos.

   The Platinum's air suspension is widely praised as exceptional value at this price point. Owners upgrading from cars like the Mercedes EQB consider it a significant step up in ride comfort. Regen braking can also be tuned to a very strong setting, which experienced EV drivers find useful in stop-and-go HK traffic.

   The HK version has fewer standard features than the mainland China equivalent. In China, the base model includes rear side sunshades and front ventilated, heated, and massage seats. These are cut or moved to the Platinum in Hong Kong, while the price gap between versions in China is only about 40,000 RMB.

   Rear seat thigh support is insufficient for taller passengers. When seated with legs near the cushion edge, thighs visibly lift off the seat surface, limiting comfort on longer drives.

   Warranty coverage across HK, Macau, and mainland China is unclear. The HK dealer told one buyer there is no Greater Bay Area tri-region warranty, while the Macau dealer confirmed it exists. Buyers planning cross-border driving should verify this directly before purchasing.

   The Platinum (top-spec) version accounts for the majority of new registrations. Air suspension, 21 speakers, ventilated seats, nappa leather, massage function, and double-layer acoustic glass are all Platinum-only. The gap between versions is large enough that most buyers stretch for the upgrade.

   The electric doors draw frequent complaints for HK use. Tight parking spaces and narrow streets make them impractical, and owners worry about repair costs if the mechanism fails. Some buyers chose the base version specifically to avoid them.

   Battery warranty is 8 years in Hong Kong, compared to lifetime in mainland China. BYD offers lifetime battery warranty in HK, making this a notable gap for buyers weighing long-term ownership costs.
